So- for someone who doesn't like Italian food all that much, I sure do make a lot of sauce. A few nights ago I craved Italian again, so I made tofu parm for myself and chicken parm for the husband. Because I did not have anymore sauce left in the freezer, I had to think about what I needed to make everything, and I realized I did not have tomato paste to help thicken the sauce. Quickly, I thought of using flour, and it worked! The recipe was not just easy with minimal ingredients, it was so tasty that I think I may be using this recipe a little more often, especially when I do not have a lot of time to let it simmer all day.
Easy, speedy, and tasty- you can make this in less than an hour!
Ingredients-
1 jar/can Organic Tomato puree
1 Tablespoon whole wheat flour
2 Tablespoons EVOO
1/2 Tablespoon Basil
2 Cloves Garlic
1/8 Teaspoon Salt
1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
Over low-medium heat, saute garlic in oil. Add sauce and bring to a boil (raise heat to medium-high). Once boiling, bring heat to low and add remaining ingredients. Stir until all flour is dissolved. Cover pot and let simmer until ready to serve. Can be ready in thirty minutes, however the longer it simmers, the thicker it will be.
