Potato chips made at home!

So our dryer broke... boohoo, as some may be saying.  But when you are accustomed to doing laundry whenever you feel like, it does become a necessity to have a working one.  So with that being said- our laundry has semi-piled up to the point where I needed a working dryer.  Since my in-laws live, oh, about 5 seconds away, I asked to use the dryer at their place.
When you are waiting for laundry to be done, and it has been piling up for a few weeks, lets just say- it is VERY time consuming!  What I thought was going to be one load ended up being more, and because of it, I was confined to my house today.
Because of the rain yesterday, it was not as terrible to have to stay home, and with some extra potatoes and apples, I decided to make myself a little hump-day treat!  Home made potato chips and apple chips!  They were so good and so easy to make that
I need to share the recipes to hopefully inspire others to make this easy treat that would be great for summertime BBQ's and boat days!

Potato Chips-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
4 potatoes of choice  (I used the red ones)
2 Tablespoons EVOO
1 Teaspoon salt
1.5 Teaspoons pepper

Slice potatoes thin (use mandoline or slicer if you have one).  Let potatoes soak for about 20-30
minutes in a bowl of cold water, it will help make chips crispier. Lay out on paper towel for another 10-15 minutes to dry out.

Mix oil, salt, and pepper together.
Lightly coat each side with oil mixture.  Lay flat on baking sheet.  Bake for 30 minutes, flip over, bake for another 30 minutes or until they start to brown.  Take out of oven, let cool and enjoy!

Apple Chips-
Preheat over to 250 degrees
5 apples
Cinnamon or brown sugar optional- I find some apples are sweet enough on their own that they do not need the added sweetness.
Slice apples thin with knife or mandoline.

Place on baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes.  Flip and bake for another 30-45 minutes.  Once they start to curl up and brown, they are usually done.  Turn over off and keep baking sheet in over for another 30-45 minutes to help make them crispy. Take out and enjoy!

When you know what you are eating, your body will thank you, and so will your taste buds!!  Eat for YOUR body!!
